A message sent by a Soldier in Iraq!
Aloha friends and family!
Over 130 of my 25th ID brothers and sisters will be running the Honolulu Marathon on 10 Dec in Tikrit, IRAQ.
Most of us are running on behalf of friends who were killed in action and we are dedicating the entire event to the Soldiers who weren't able to make it back to their loved one's last deployment. A non profit organization called TAPS, whose proceeds benefit surviving family members of Soldiers killed on active duty, has helped coordinate runners with fallen service members.
I am running in memory of my former 3/4 CAV squadron commander LTC Mike McMahon who was killed in an aircraft crash on Afghanistan on 27 Nov 2004 and in memory of 1LT Adam Malson who was deployed with my brother Rick Powell's 10th Mountain Division and was killed by an IED on my birthday Feb 19 2005.
TAPS and the families of those who have died in service to America greatly appreciate your support and time.
