"Supporting Deployed Service Members and The Mascots They Love"

7 December 2004Military Mascots
Afghanistan Mascots
More requests are coming in for Afghanistan Mascots who could use your support. These Mascots require two flights before they can make it to the US for their soldiers. Their expenses are high and quotes have averaged $2,700.00 and up per animal.

Sandy's Soldier writes: "This is my dog Sandy, the best kept dog in the 'Ghan". A local boy from the town of Bagram brought us Sandy to say thank you for care we rendered him. Just over 3 months old, she could still fit inside my Kevlar. Well, 6 months later Sandy ("Stitch" to me) is still here, I've become positively inseparable from this dog and have long ago decided to bring her home.

Apache & Chopper's Soldier writes:

We have been working night and day to gather information on how to get these two safely back to the States. I was surfing the internet and that was when I ran across the military mascot website. It has been the most helpful site I've ran across as of yet. If you could help us out with anything, we would be so thankful! We call them "The 2 most spoiled dogs in Afghanistan".

Duke's Soldier is now home in the US, his buddy awaits their reunion, his costs to make it home are over $3,000.00

Please show your support to our Troops and their furry friends.

I have been questioned many times in the past 18 months - " Don't you think we have enough pets in the US?"
Quite frankly - YES, we do...however these pets are not entering animal shelters for adoption, they are loved and owned by soldier's who wish to bring them home to their families. These soldier's share a bond that only those deployed, those behind their requests for help and the families of these soldier's can understand. Reading through the soldier's daily emails it is very easy to offer them support and compassion for the desire to save their friends. Please understand their desire and show your support, Military Mascots effort is not based on saving the homeless pets of Iraq & Afghanistan - the effort is entirely based on supporting our Troops and sharing in all that they sacrifice for us.

Thank you for the outstanding support you have shown to these Troops!
